Soil Thermometer

Step 1 - For first time user, unwrap device and unfold your probe. Press the "ON" button. 

Step 2 - Facing your plant, insert probe diagonally down onto the soil you wish to measure. Becareful not to be too close to stems, trunk or root ball to avoid piercing the roots.

Step 3 - Wait 5 to 15 seconds to get a stable reading. Some readings may take longer. Wait until reading is displayed stable results. if probe is touching a root part, the result will be inconsistent. Reposition and try again.

Step 4 - Before every routine maintenance, monitor your soil temperature and match with the water temperature you plant to be using for watering or fertilising.

• Minimal care: match your water temperature to your air temperature. This will prevent that your root system and microorganism suffer temperature related stresses.
• Optimal care: most plants will thrive given the right the right condition of being watered between 20°C and 23°C.
• Tailored care: based on the cultivated species of plant, raise your temperature to the desired amounts to stimulate the plant, soil and microorganisms based on their native climate.

Step 5 - The temperature inside a recipient like a pot will always be fluctuating. What is of critical importance is to measure just before the moment you will be administering water or feed. It is paramount you never administer any liquid with temperatures below the soil. hat will harm your plants' root system and reduce microbial activity.

For sub-tropical plants: 20°C - 25°C

Plants in pots in different parts of your home will have different temperatures, even though they belong to the same species. Plants do experience cold and they will react to it in various forms. Monitoring and adjusting temperatures is part of the work.

Example: Your core bedroom might be 20°C but does't necessarily mean your soil will be 20°C. When we say "at room temperature" what we expect is that every material inside that room will acclimatise to one temperature. Even better if the water you are about to administer is also 20°C. Then the temperature will be constant throughout.

If you add water with temperature 27°C, you are raising the temperature of the content of that pot leaving the soil at roughly 25°C to 23°C for the next hours. The temperature will eventually drop again back to 20°C or below.

What is critical is to monitor the soil temperature and not let it fall below the current air temperature in that room and inside the pot soil temperature. if you start with the soil temeprature at 20°C and adminiter water at 10°C then your overall soil temeprature will drop drastically hitting dangerous levels which will undoubtedly cause harm such as: yellowing and dropping of leaves, wilting, low defenses and increase insect attacks.
